Person Description
Thomas J. Slone Sr.
Former Resident of San Jose, CA. Passed away in Las Vegas, NV

Thomas “Tom” Slone passed away from lung cancer on June 7th in Las Vegas. Born in Chicago, Tom attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Loyola University, as well as an MBA from the University of Chicago. He provided for a family of five children, including ensuring they received a solid education base, which was very important to him. After an initial sales position in Illinois, Tom went to work for Wells Plastics/Electronics in South Bend, Indiana. He worked his way up the sales organization, eventually moving to San Jose to open their Silicon Valley production and sales facility. After returning to the Indiana headquarters for several years, he moved back to San Jose and started Western Industrial Network (WIN), an electronics manufacturer’s representative company which included Wells and other product lines. Tom was a leading electronics sales manager, well known in the semiconductor industry. His work ethic, competitiveness, and efforts to constantly improve sales and marketing techniques were an influence on many in the industry. After a long run, he closed WIN and moved to Arizona to pursue other career interests. He spent his final years in Las Vegas, working in the convention industry. He also taught business courses at various times throughout his life. Tom was a proficient athlete, able to pick-up nearly any sport and perform well at it. He was a lifelong Notre Dame fan, and became a 49ers fan after moving to California. Besides business and sports, his interests included an appreciation for many types of music and literature, tech gadgets, a love for ice cream, and law enforcement. He completed citizen’s police academy programs in both Arizona and Nevada and supported organization activities. Tom is survived by his five children and eight grandchildren. His wish was to have his ashes scattered in the mountains surrounding Las Vegas. Donations in Tom’s memory can be made to the American Lung Association.
